What are the 10 countries in the ASEAN?

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, commonly as ASEAN, is a political and economic union of 10 states in Southeast Asia, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

ASEAN countries have a total population of 662 million people and a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of $3.2 trillion.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN:

  • Indonesia
  • Malaysia
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • Thailand.

Then,

  • Brunei Darussalam joined ASEAN on 7 January 1984
  • Viet Nam joined on 28 July 1995
  • Lao PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997
  • Cambodia on 30 April 1999

Making up what is today the ten Member States of ASEAN.
