Verification levels explained

Kraken offers two verification levels for personal accounts, Intermediate and Pro Personal account.

Business accounts are available if you would like to trade for business purposes or on behalf of a business entity.

Intermediate account

The Intermediate account is the first verification level, which allows you to access all essential account functions.

When you are verified with an Intermediate account, you can buy and sell crypto, deposit cash and crypto, margin trade, and much more. The Intermediate level is best for a vast majority of clients.

Pro Personal account

A Personal account with Pro limits is the highest verification level available and includes the following benefits:

  • Further increasing your deposit & withdrawal limits.
  • Access to Kraken’s Over-the-Counter trading desk.
  • Higher API limits.

Business account

Business account verification is required for businesses and institutions. Business accounts may also be useful for clients that require higher API key limits, for building integrations with their account.

What are the fees?

Kraken does not charge any commission when trading stocks or ETFs.

Regulatory agencies may charge fees that are passed to the investor.

  • The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) charges a Trading Activity Fee (TAF) on sell orders of $0.000166 per share. This fee is rounded to the nearest cent and will never be greater than $8.30 per trade.
  • There’s also an SEC regulatory transaction fee for sell orders of $27.80 per $1 million of principal. This fee is also rounded up to the nearest cent.

Who can trade stocks on Kraken?:

Stocks trading is available to all US clients, except for clients residing in Maine or New York.

What stocks and ETFs can I trade?: Kraken offers access to 11,000+ stocks and ETFs from NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, and more.

When can I place stock orders on Kraken?: You can place orders 24/7. If you submit an equities order outside of market hours, it will be queued and executed at the start of the next trading session.

Can stocks be traded 24/7 like crypto, or are there set trading hours?

Regular market hours are Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 4:00pm ET. Please keep in mind the markets are closed during certain US holidays. On Kraken, you can place stock and ETF orders outside of regular market hours that will be queued to execute as soon as possible at the next market open.

Crypto trading is 24/7, allowing for constant trading activity across time zones.

Is stock and ETF trading on Kraken regulated?

Yes, brokerage services are provided by Kraken Securities LLC, a member of FINRA and SIPC.

Kraken Securities LLC is a member of SIPC, which protects the securities in your brokerage account up to $500,000 (including $250,000 for cash claims).

How does Kraken handle stock ownership and dividends?

You own the stocks that you buy on Kraken. Any dividends will be automatically processed into your account. You can find details of previous dividends via Activity > Transactions (Kraken), or in History (Kraken Pro).

Getting started with xStocks

看了下Kraken(海妖)平台上股票代币xStocks的交易规则

1、美国、加拿大、英国、欧盟、澳大利亚用户不能买，没有提中国、香港，但我用香港身份注册的Kraken里面没看到xStocks。

2、现在只包括55只股票和5只ETF。

3、支持24x5交易。

4、买xStocks里的股票不派息，底层股票派息的时候按复投算，会增加份额。

5、在Kraken上使用USDG或者USD购买，无交易费用。

1、由注册在瑞士的Backed母公司，控制着在泽西岛的 Backed Assets。

2、它们通过盈透证券下 IBKR Prime 的通道，在美股市场买入股票，然后转移放置在 Clearstream 下的隔离账户。而 Clearstream 是德交所下的存管机构，帮助它们保存这些股票。

3、当以上 买入、转移、存入 操作完成后，会触发已部署在 Solana 链上的合约，对应股票代币的增发工作，即每买 1000 股特斯拉股票并存好，链上会 1 : 1 铸造 1000 枚 TSLAx 代币。

4、代币合约的控制地址，归 Backed 这家发行商所有。之后第三方交易所，如 Kraken、Bybit、Jupiter 等，可直接上架这些代币的现货、合约。

5、如果投资者、做市商买入了大于等于 1 的 TSLAx 代币，可以去找 Backed 申请，兑成券商下实际的特斯拉股票。

这样，算是完成了整个币股的抵押、铸造、发行、赎回工作，是不是很像隔壁的稳定币。

简单来说，xStocks 原理是先在券商买真股票，再在链上发行对应的股票代币，所以也可以说它是股票锚定币。

这样做的好处是，可以让非欧美居民，直接通过链上或离岸交易所，买入股票币，从而间接投资、持有美股。

另外，链上地址都是匿名的，如果不刻意跟踪，很难让当地税务，知道你在链上持有股票，这样也解决了最近的某途查税风波。

What are xStocks?

xStocks are tokenized representations of real-world stocks and ETFs. Each xStock is backed 1:1 by the underlying equity and issued as an SPL token on-chain.

What stocks and ETFs are available as xStocks?

At launch, Kraken will offer 60 assets – 55 stocks and 5 ETFs– including names like Tesla (TSLAx), Apple (AAPLx), and GameStop (GMEx).

Who can buy xStocks?

Tokenized stocks are not accessible in the US, Canada, UK, EU, or Australia at this time​.

Can I trade xStocks 24/7?

xStocks can be traded 24/5 on Kraken, providing access outside of traditional market hours. Weekend trading availability is in development​. When withdrawn to a self-hosted wallet, xStocks can be traded 24/7 on-chain.

How are xStocks different from traditional stocks?

xStocks do not confer shareholder rights like voting or dividends. They offer price exposure to the underlying asset, but do not carry the same rights as the actual security itself.​

Are there any trading fees?

There are no trading fees when purchasing xStocks with USDG or USD on Kraken. Standard Instant Buy trading fees apply when purchasing xStocks using other assets. To lock in a price, a spread may be included in the asset price for each transaction.

How do xStocks track the price of the real stock?

xStock prices are tied to the execution price of the underlying equity. Kraken updates prices based on the real-time price when buying or selling tokens.​

Do I receive dividends from xStocks?

Dividend payouts will be automatically reinvested into more of the same token. Rather than receiving a cash dividend, your xStocks balance will increase to reflect the dividend.

Are xStocks safe to use?

Kraken and Backed utilize secure custody, audited reserves, and blockchain infrastructure to ensure the safety and transparency of xStock holdings.​ Still, investing in xStocks involves an element of risk.
